Peace,
Hope you are enjoying VERBALISMS magazine. Our debut issue was well received! Thanks to everyone for your support.
Since the release of our first issue we have undergone a few changes including a complete site redesign that will make navigating VERBALISMS easier.
She’s Back
Contributing Writer, Meca Isa, talks with Ladybug Meca, formerly of Digable Planets, about her forthcoming solo release, tentatively titled, “Rebirth of Mec”.
The Price of Fame
What happens when your favorite entertainer or his family needs medical care? Do they just drop the insurance card and the HMO takes care of the rest? Not even close. Kaya Matthias takes an investigative look at the lack of medical insurance for musicians and artists.
Region: Two One Five
Illadelphite Deesha Dyer introduces readers to how hip-hop is done Philly style. Giving us the 2-1-5 on Stef Tataz, Irize Refined Earth and other women holding down the culture in the city of Brotherly Love.
Also in our second issue we have introduced several new sections:
Outside the Lines a section dedicated to highlighting women doing their thing outside of the lines of hip-hop, but still deserve some shine.
Power Juice takes a look at women working behind the scenes in hip-hop. This section will feature articles about the women who make things happen. The CEOs, owners, and entrepreneurs who make the wheels go round.
The Anti-Style Report is the fashion and beauty area of the site. We will showcase a variety of clothing lines, stylists and everyday people who redefine hip-hop “style” and beauty in general. (Does that sound like you? Well we might be looking for you. Visit The Anti-Style Report for more info on how you can be featured in VERBALISMS.)
Thanks again for the support and keep looking to VERBALISMS for the latest on WOMEN. HIP-HOP. WOMEN IN HIP-HOP.
Until next month,
