Interview
In recent years, there has been an uproar within the hip-hop generation about women, respect and equal recognition. An e-zine (electronic magazine) has dedicated itself to representing not only the accomplishments of female emcees, b-girls, graffiti artists and DJ’s, but it dives into the world of women promoters, managers and key players of the game. In addition, it dissects how we arrived at this point.

Some may have the illusion that VERBALISMS operates under an anti-male policy. That is not the case at all, as there are men involved with the creative and editorial production of the zine. They stress that it’s not to isolate males, but to highlight and uplift the women that make the hip-hop cycle rotate.

Please take a minute and check out www.verbalisms.com for everything you need to know about the women out there who are contributing to this hip hop shit. Yes, it’s all about the ladies, with lots of great stuff for any head to digest.

Review
This is a cool site because you hardly see women in hip-hop, it’s called VERBALISMS, and if you like hip-hop then you will love this magazine. This is a positive and intelligent magazine.

Website of the Month
From behind the scenes, on the front lines, and shouting from the balconies, these women aim to keep history alive about Women within the Hip Hop culture. VERBALISMS is a catalyst for b-girls, DJ’s, emcees, producers, and writers in the “game” who hardly get their share of recognition. What can you find there? My favorites include ‘Voice’ where you can respond to hot topics and questions, and ‘Power Juice’ – only in it’s second wave – with a purpose to encourage others by stories of success. Women and Achievement, need I say more? Don’t think it’s only for women, men can get down too so hit them up and support the movement.
